Rihanna has admitted that she is “nervous” about performing at the Super Bowl halftime show next year, but she is “looking forward” to the experience.
The NFL announced last month that the singer would star in one of the biggest nights of the US sporting calendar.
Following the announcement, the singer and mother of one posted an Instagram and Twitter photo of her hand holding an American football.
When asked about the performance while out grocery shopping in Los Angeles on Tuesday, October 4, she told TMZ, “I’m nervous…but excited.”
Rihanna is expected to be joined by special guests for the show, which will be the Barbadian singer’s first major live performance in many years, but she declined to elaborate.
She previously declined to perform in the 2019 Super Bowl halftime show in solidarity with former US football player Colin Kaepernick, who gained worldwide recognition for kneeling to protest racial injustice in the United States.
Global superstars such as The Weeknd, Shakira, and Jennifer Lopez have previously headlined the show.
