Gerard Pique has been making headlines often following his break-up with Shakira and his relationship with Clara Chia. He is also well known for his multiple business ventures and this time a story involving his name comes as a surprise.
The Barcelona centre-back has invested in a project to build a luxury hotel Malaga. In 2015, he bought the land located on Costa del Sol for about 20 million dollars.
However, the project has been stalled as 250 graves were found where Pique’s property is. Now, relevant studies will have to be carried out to find out exactly what century they are from.
“We have excavated about 250 tombs, of which the vast majority are empty,” explained archaeologist Alberto Cumpian to Hoy por hoy Malaga.
“Possibly, the tombs were never used, and are not valuable enough to be preserved. It is one of the largest necropolises in the country.”
The archaeologist said that the project should be given the green light to move ahead in January 2023. He believes that there should be no further complications in their bid to build something in the property.
