Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed the terms of a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr, 90min understands.
After Ronaldo's departure from Manchester United, the 37-year-old's representatives were hard at work searching for a new club while a bumper offer from Al Nassr remained unsigned on the table, with his preferred plan to remain in Europe.
Sources have confirmed to 90min Ronaldo did have some interest from Europe but none of the proposals met his demands and he has instead agreed to a contract with Al Nassr.
The deal is understood to run until 2025 but club officials are hopeful Ronaldo will stay beyond that, perhaps in an ambassadorial role if he chooses to hang up his boots, with the idea of remaining until 2030 mentioned during initial discussions.
The plan is for Ronaldo to undergo a medical within the week ahead of putting pen to paper on his blockbuster move to the Middle East.
KUBILIVE understands the deal is worth in the region of £250m, which will make him the highest-earning player in the world.
Al Nassr's bid to sign Ronaldo has been backed by the Saudi Arabian government, who are hoping to boost their global standing as part of their plan to host the 2030 World Cup.
Saudi officials are also keen to bring Lionel Messi to the Middle East in the future, with Al Hilal identified as a potential landing spot for the World Cup winner.
