She made this revelation on the latest episode of her cooking show on YouTube, which had Joke Silva as her guest.
During the show, she asked Silva about the health of her husband, Olu Jacobs. Silva noted that she had come to understand that her husband has dementia and they were in a place of acceptance that had helped them to manage the situation properly.
Later, the mother of four also spoke about her health issues.
Johnson-Okojie said, “Odi (her husband) and I have actually been here and I have never discussed it where we had a scare. I had a cancer ‘scare’ and I had my thyroid (a gland in the throat) removed, and it was like a journey for us because we had kids.
“My last (child) was six months at that time and then we kept on saying, ‘Okay, we have to understand that this is the new us, let’s go get the surgery done’. And then we got there they said I was going to be on medication for the rest of my life and it was a reality that we had to sit down.
“You know, they’re giving me timing and telling me, “You can’t miss your medication. Once you wake up that day, that’s the first thing (I will take)’. They told me all of the side effects.”
The actress also said in her Youtube post on Thursday that accepting the present situation made her see it as a comfort zone.
She added, “So, I’m reconciling with this you are saying. It’s the truth. At that point, we realise this is where we are, let’s grow from here, and let’s live in this comfort zone.”
