Presbyterian Boys Senior High School, Legon has won the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) grand finale for the eighth time. Presec Legon, the 2022 winners, won back-to-back in 2023, becoming the second team to do so on the 30th anniversary of the NSMQ.
They finished the final round 5 with 40 points, compared to Achimota School's 28 points for silver and Opoku Ware School's 23 points for bronze.
The Presecan boys took the first step towards establishing themselves as the most successful school in the NSMQ straight from the start, finishing the 2023 grand finale round one with 18 points.
Opoku Ware School, a two-time champion, and Achimota School, a two-time champion, finished the first round with 9 and 11 points, respectively.
With 40 points, Presec led until the fifth round.
Only in the fourth round did Achimota School cut the distance and tie Presec at 25 points apiece, but that round ended with Presec at 31 points to Achimota's 28 points and Opoku Ware's 20 points.
