Its mission is to bolster the competitiveness and sustainability of Washington's film industry. In 2022, the Washington State House of Representatives and Senate passed legislation that not only increased funding for the program but also included provisions aimed at expanding and fortifying the statewide film sector. Notably, this legislation emphasized support for projects highlighting the narratives of historically marginalized communities and allocated funding for workforce development initiatives within these communities.
