Business Owners Who Reject MoMo Because Of E-Levy Will Be Arrested : Deputy Finance Minister

Published

on

Hon. John Kumah, the Deputy Minister of Finance, has warned businesses against their rejection of payments for goods and services through Mobile Money (MoMo0 following the implementation of the Electronic Transaction Levy, also known as E-levy.

Sections of the Ghanaian public have complained that some businesses have begun rejecting electronic payments at their premises to avoid the new 1.5% transaction fee it attracts.

Radio broadcaster Adakabre Frimpong Manso had earlier shared a similar experience he encountered at a fuel station owned by Anita Sefa Boakye at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.

He disclosed that he was returning to Accra after a long weekend in the Region when he stopped by the filling station to buy GHC200 of fuel, only to be told by an attendant that their madam has warned them not to accept MoMo.

Responding to the complaints during an interview, the minister and current Member of Parliament for Ejisu said rejecting any form of electronic payment because of the new tax measure introduced by the government is a criminal offence.

John Kumah intimated that the E-levy has come to stay thus, the earlier businesses and Ghanaians, in general, accept the reality, the better.

He urged Ghanaians to comply with the new directive to support the government’s strategic economic recovery plan aimed at providing a better living standard for all.

“If Elections Are Held Today, NPP Will Lose” : Deputy Minister

Published

on

Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, has expressed concern about the electoral fortunes of his party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

If elections were held today, he believes the governing party would lose badly to their archrival, the NDC.

Mr Ampratwum-Sarpong has maintained that the NPP’s “breaking the 8” mantra will fail to materialize unless Ghana’s economic hardship is addressed as soon as possible.

“We said we were going to rewrite history and destiny.” We want to get rid of the eight (8). If there is an election today, I will tell you honestly that the NPP will lose badly. Black is black, and red is crimson. I’ll say it and tell you straight.

“I’m on the ground, I know what’s going on, and I hear what my constituents are saying.” Today I’m discussing the topic of the day. Today we face a significant challenge.”

Bernard Antwi-Bosiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, has refuted claims that he struggles to express himself in English.

Despite attending Prempeh College and studying General Arts in Secondary School, the politician finds it difficult to communicate effectively in the Queen’s language.

However, he claims to be confident in his abilities because he is able to communicate effectively whenever he conducts business.

“…We go to school to make friends and to learn things that will help us in the future,” Mr Boasiako said during an interview on the Delay Show, which aired over the weekend.

I don’t speak useless English, I speak English that would bring in money that would make my workers comfortable and expand my companies, he said.

Wontumi went on to say that the student who had previously topped his General Arts class was now a police officer [working for the state to pay him] while he (Wontumi) was in business [working for himself].

The businessman stated that he had lived in London for years, so speaking English was not a problem for him, but he makes certain that he only expresses himself in places that would be profitable to him.

Elon Musk Accused Of Sexual Assault

Published

on

Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, has quickly denied a sexual assault claim made by a former flight attendant, to whom the company allegedly paid $250,000 as part of a severance agreement in 2018.

The alleged victim worked as a crew member on a SpaceX corporate flight, according to one of the flight attendant’s friends. During one of the flights, the attendant told a friend that Musk had asked her for a full body massage in his room, stating that this was not unusual and that SpaceX had encouraged her to get a masseuse license.

Musk, she claims, removed the sheet covering his lower half of his body during the massage, exposing his erect penis while allegedly rubbing her leg. He allegedly offered to buy the attendant a horse in exchange for “doing more.”

The allegations were relayed to Insider by one of the flight attendant’s friends, who was asked to sign a declaration supporting the claims by the attendant’s attorney in 2018.

According to the friend, the flight attendant refused to perform any sexual acts on Musk and was “really upset” after the flight. The friend also claimed that SpaceX reduced the number of shifts she was assigned after the incident, which the attendant interpreted as retaliation.

According to Insider, the attendant complained to SpaceX’s HR department in 2018 that her career had suffered as a result of her refusal. According to reports, the company took the complaint to a mediator rather than a court or arbitrator, and signed the attendant to a $250,000 severance agreement prohibiting her from speaking negatively about Musk or his companies, including SpaceX and Tesla.

Reacting to the accusations were after the report surfaced on Thursday, Elon tweeted that “for the record, those wild accusations are utterly untrue.”

In a separate tweet, Musk states that the “attacks against me should be viewed through a political lens” — though it’s unclear if this is meant to refer to Insider, the whistleblower, or both.
