The suspect in the kidnapping of three girls in Takoradi revealed in court Monday that a police investigator helped him break jail.
Samuel Oudoterg Willson told the court he does not know the name of the said officer but he can identify.
Besides that officer, the suspect said one Kwesi helped him with oil which facilitated his cutting of the metal bars used to barricade the windows of the cell.
Mr. Willson, however, noted that he is not aware of the current location of the said Kwesi and pleaded for some time from the court to locate him.
He is currently being tried for escaping from lawful custody. The case has been adjourned to February 18, 2019.
Willson is in the capital, Accra currently helping the police with investigations into the whereabouts of the three kidnapped girls.
A vigil was held in Takoradi on February 4 for the kidnapped girls
He escaped from custody after he was picked up in connection to the kidnappings. Police say he has admitted to the kidnappings but is non-cooperative as to their whereabouts.
“He keeps sending us to wrong locations,” the Western regional police commander told Joy News.
What has the family of the girls been saying?
The families of the girls have, however, expressed their displeasure with current proceedings.
They said the return of the girls is of paramount interest to them; they have no interest in the criminal prosecutions.
The Gender and Social Protection Minister, Cynthia Morrison recently visited the families, assuring them that the girls are alive.
“…so if they are alive, where are they,” a relative quizzed.
The sister of Ruth Quayson, one of the kidnapped girls told Joy News’ Ina-Thalia Quansah that they are giving the authorities a week’s ultimatum or there would be a mammoth demonstration in the Western regional capital.
Priscilla Bentum was abducted in August 2018 while Ruth Quayson and Mantebea Koranchie were taken in December the same year.

33-Yr-Old Woman Marries Herself After Surviving Accident Which Left Her Crippled
A Kenyan woman has shared a rather sad and unfortunate story after herself after surviving a ghastly accident which left her wheelchair-bound.
The 33-year-old woman identified as Georgina Wambui got married to herself in a simple ceremony in order to live a happy life.
According to Georgina Wambui, she was in a relationship before the accident but decided to end it because they had issues.
She explained that after the accident in 2014, she lost most of her friends and close relatives since she is now confined to a wheelchair.
She added that after revealing to her family about her decision to marry herself they found it absurd and decided to change her mind but it fell on deaf ears.
So on her 33rd birthday, she bought herself a ring, a beautiful gown, a cake with the inscription “Gee Weds Gee” with her bridesmaid and got married to herself in a colourful ceremony.
“After the accident, I lost my friends who were close to me. That changed me a lot, it gave me a lot of strength. It made me realise some people are there to stay and others are not. This is one reason why I choose very few people around myself.
I chose to marry myself according to the inner feeling in me, not because I don’t believe in love, I do believe in love, I believe in marriage but I chose I will go for what I want not what the society wants.
You may choose to wait but will you wait for the rest of your life. I really wanted to be married to a man but it has taken longer than what I expected, that is why I decided I will go ahead and marry myself. After my wedding, the next thing is getting a child, that is where I’m heading now,” Georgina stated.
Georgina further revealed that now the next plan she is working on is getting a child but wouldn’t mind if she finds a caring and genuine man who will give her children or a deadbeat dad.
The Kenyan-woman is hopeful that she will surely have children and all that matters now is her happiness.

Netherlands and Ajax captain, Matthijs de Ligt has reportedly agreed to join Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus in a deal worth £67.5m.
The 19-year-old center-back is expected to arrive in Turin on Tuesday night and will undergo a medical on Wednesday in a deal worth £67.5m (€75m) including bonuses.
According to Sky Sports in Italy, the Serie A champions have already agreed on personal terms with De Ligt’s agent, Mino Raiola, with the defender set to sign a five-year deal worth £10.8m-a-year plus bonuses during his time in Turin.
The news of his imminent transfer comes after Ajax released a statement last week claiming De Ligt did not travel with the rest of the squad to Austria for their pre-season camp because he is “awaiting a possible transfer”.
“We’re about to close De Ligt’s transfer,” said Ajax director Marc Overmars on Monday. “We’re waiting for the latest bank guarantees before confirming the deal. We’re hoping it will work out as soon as possible, but we’re hopeful it will be.”
