Greater Accra Music Awards Closes Nominations Today

Greater Accra Music Awards ( GAMA), an annual awards scheme that seeks to recognize and award musical talents in the Greater Accra Region which opened nominations on July 12, 2019 will close the filing of nominations today Monday, August 12, 2019, at 12 am.

According to the organizers, the scheme aims at recognizing and celebrating the hard-working artistes under the year in review. The CEO of the scheme Rashid said, “Ghana’s capital is undoubtedly the hub of great talent however due to several talents seeking greener pastures here, it has made it difficult for the music fans to identify and celebrate the Greater Accra artistes, it is also to touch base with musical roots in the capital.

“Ghana music industry over the years have seen huge growth in the development hence creating lots of employment throughout. The music industry is one of the sectors which can boost of energetic youth”

He also added that the categories along with definitions are sent out to industry practitioners in the region by the GAMA Board; radio station DJs, night club DJs as well as MUSIGA Greater Regional office, major distributors of music, etc, for nominations in the various categories.

Categories include;

Traditional Song of the year

Highlife Song of the year

Gospel Song of the year

Hiplife song of the year

Hip Hop song of the year

Reggae Song of the year

Dancehall song of the year

Best Group of the year

Best Rapper of the year

Best Collaboration of the year

Emerging Artiste of the Year

Album of the year

Viral Song of the year

Best Male Vocalist of the year

Best Female Vocalist of the year

Song Writer of the year

Producer of the year

Video director year

Hip hop Artiste of the year

Traditional Artiste of the year

Highlife Artiste of the year

Gospel Artiste of the year

None Gama Artiste of the year

Gama International Artiste of the year

Fan base of the year

Best Dj of the year

Best Promoter/ Blogger of the year

Hip life Artiste of the year

Reggae Artiste of the year

Dancehall Artiste of the year

Artiste of the year

Artistes who qualifies are artistes whose work were released in the year under review.

The winners within each category are determined by a twofold voting system. The first is a percentage of the final score allocated to the award academy who individually vote for their preferred artist/group.

The second is a larger percentage allocated to the general public who vote via SMS for their favorite artist after having access to various music samples on the official website. All the votes go to an independent auditing firm who determine the final winner.

After the announcement by the President of Ghana that 2019 is a year of return for the African-American after the 400 years of Trans Atlantic slave trade, Versatile Ghanaian artist kiss blaze is ready to release a song to add up to the celebration, the titled of the song is “YEAR OF RETURN” which was produced by Mint beatz.

The lyrics of the song is mixed with twi, english and Ga language with a good song with nice melody and great instrumentals
According to the management of Kiss blaze “Year of Return ” was not funded and sponsored by the Government or the Year of Return comittee but by themselves and they are expecting it to trend Globally.

Sonnie Badu Congratulates Stonebwoy For Getting A Billboard Plaque

UK-based Ghanaian Gospel Minister Sonnie Badu has applauded Stonebwoy for his new achievement.

Stonebwoy took to his social media platform to show a plaque he received from Billboard for his contribution to Jamaican artiste Sizzla Kalonji’s album titled ‘Welcome to Jamaica’.

On that album, Stonebwoy was featured on ‘Shoot Yuh’ song which made it way to number 2 on the Billboard chart.

Sonnie Badu commenting under Stonebwoy’s post stated that he is very proud of him.

He posted: “Proud of you”.

Tonto Dikeh Gives Shatta Wale Nigerian Name As She Declares Love For Him

Shatta Wale recently revealed proudly that he has been granted a new Nigerian passport which actually makes him a citizen of Nigeria.

He revealed the other benefit for bearing the passport is a work permit in Nigeria.

He tweeted: Thank God, I Just Got My Naija Passport With Work Permit. Proud Naija Boy.

In reacting to Shatta Wale’s tweet, Tonto Dikeh posted saying;

Ikechukwu Wale, I Love This Man

This could be the beginning of a new found friendship between the two controversial personalities from two West African countries.
