I Almost Went Broke Featuring Davido On My Song : Singer, Diamond Platnumz

Diamond Platnumz, Tanzanian recording artist, has revealed he almost went bankrupt after featuring popular Nigerian singer, Davido on his song in 2014.

Platnumz who featured Davido on the remix of his hit track “Number One”, in an exclusive chat with Nairobi News recalled how the collabo almost left him bankrupt.

According to him, he spent ten times more than what he used to spend in his previous music projects in the collabo with the DMW boss.

Diamond disclosed that the money was too much for him that he had to approach several banks for loans to enable him finance the video shoot for “Number One” remix.

The Tanzanian music star, however noted that although he spent a lot on the project and nearly went broke, the collabo with Davido opened several doors for him.

He further revealed the collabo paved way for bigger opportunities and a new market which gave him the money to jump-start his label WCB.

He said; “Before doing the first video version of Number One at Ogopa Djs in Nairobi, my video cost used to be about KSh 326, 000 per video. With Number One, I went ten times higher and spent KSh 3.3 million or thereabout to fly Ogopa Djs video crew to Cape Town, South Africa, and shoot my video. The outcome was amazing, and that gave me the green light to approach Davido for a remix.

“I took loans from Tanzania banks to finance my video and collaboration with Davido in Lagos because I had to travel there with my crew”.

“Gyakie’s Songs Are More Enjoyable Than Kuami Eugene’s” : Efia Odo Asserts

Published

Well-known Ghanaian socialite and video vixen, Andrea Owusu, also known as Efia Odo has asserted that Gyakie’s songs are more enjoyable than that of Lynx Entertainment signee, Kuami Eugene.

Her comments came following Kuami Eugene’s assertions about their #FixTheCountry crusade which has been trending on social media for some time now.

Speaking with Blogger, Zionfelix on the Uncut show, the patriotic actress stated that she has always been promoting good music from musicians in Ghana irrespective of the relationship she has with them.

According to Efi Odo, Gyakie who hasn’t been in the industry for long but has managed to break boundaries with craft is far ahead of the “Open Gate” crooner, Kuami Eugene who has been in the industry for a longer period.

She asserted that one of the things that hinders the growth of Ghanaian musicians and their songs is their inability to invest into their craft just like Gyakie is doing with her brand.

She further said that until musicians promote themselves and their craft, Ghanaians will not see the need to promote them as well.

Stating her reason for not liking Kuami Eugene’s songs, the die-hard Kwesi Arthur fan stated that she has always loved songs from Kuami Eugene’s colleague. Kidi, King Promise, and others but not so much into the self-acclaimed ‘Rockstar’s’ songs. She said that she is into Afrobeat but not from the likes of Kuami Eugene.
