“Ignorant” : Ama K Abebrese Schools Efia Odo On Ghana’s Independence

Ghanaian socialite Efia Odo had suggested in a social media post that Ghana’s independence was rushed and should have been postponed to a later date.

According to her, a black man was and is not capable of managing his own affairs thus the political independence Ghana won in 1957 was much ado about nothing.

Efia Odo had frustratingly intimated that Ghana’s independence has not yielded much since those who have had power have misused it and not pushed for the development of the nation. She suggested that the colonial masters should have governed Ghana for a much longer period.

Actress Ama K Abebrese is a reactionary post has described Efia Odo’s assertion as purely ignorant.

According to her, any suggestion about the fact that Ghana was better off having her colonial masters govern the country is ill-informed and probably a display of sheer ignorance.

In a longish Facebook post, Ama K Abebrese advised Efia Odo to read widely on Ghana’s independence and how imperative it was to Africa’s political history.

She urged Efia Odo to call out bad leadership but also added that any move to discredit the importance of Ghana’s independence and the fight of many patriots to seize Ghana from the Machiavellian colonial rule must not be entertained.

Ama K Abebrese wrote on Facebook:

This is totally ignorant.

To suggest that colonial powers were somehow better and their reign should have lasted longer is such a setback mentality to me. It ignores the history of Western interference in post-colonial Africa and the many years of bad trade deals that continually benefit the West.

Not forgetting that many African leaders like Nkrumah/Sankara were attempted assassinations/killed with reported Western ‘assistance’ by their own people. That sent a strong message early on that the notion of revolutionary black leaders would not last. This issue is much more complex and deep-rooted.

Bad leaders are not a justification to equate colonialism as if it were some kind of idyllic situation for Africa. It reinforces centuries of negative depictions of Africa and black people as inadequate and somehow less able to manage their affairs.

I doubt you would suggest slavery ended too early or that African Americans misused their power. However, you suggest colonialism ended ‘too early’. By all means, call out bad leadership in Africa and continually hold them accountable at every opportunity. But miss me with the post-colonial ignorance.

P.S. African history did not begin with colonialism and slavery. We had many great civilisations prior. We must educate ourselves.

R.Kelly To Get Sexual Disorder Therapy And Have No Contact With Minors Upon Being Released

R.Kelly, the disgraced R&B hitmaker who was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the sex crimes for which he stood trial, has been given some conditions to follow when he is released.

According to TMZ, prosecutors believe Kelly is especially dangerous to society because he continued his criminal behavior for years after being convicted of sex crimes in Chicago.

Following the revelation, the Judge ordered Kelly to notify anyone who chooses to live with him that he is a sex offender.

Ann M. Donnelly, the judge, also ordered that the singer receive mental health treatment upon his release. His treatment will include therapy for an unspecified sexual disorder, and he must avoid all contact with anyone under the age of 18.

It was also learned that he will only be allowed to be around someone under the age of 18 if it is a family member or in a therapeutic setting with a “responsible adult” present.

All of the scenarios listed above would have to be approved by his probation officer first. Kelly will be on supervised release for 5 years after he is released.

The disgraced singer still faces another federal trial and two state trials, and if convicted again, he will almost certainly face even more restrictions.

Funke Akindele Accused Of Cheating On Her Ex-Jusband JJC Skillz

Famous Nigerian actress Funke Akindele and her husband Abdul Rasheed Bello, also known as JJC Skillz, have finally divorced after reports of their marital problems spread.

Mr Bello announced in an Instagram post that he and his wife have decided to divorce after attempting to resolve their marital issues for over two years.

JJC Skillz confirmed his divorce by stating that his wife forced him to leave their marital home three months ago.

He revealed that all attempts to persuade his wife to settle their differences amicably had failed, and they had finally decided to divorce.

He wrote on Instagram; “Dear friends and family I need to let you know that Funke and I have separated. While it lasted we shared a lot of things together and have created 2 beautiful children. The last two years have been extremely difficult for us.

I know I have tried my best to fix things but I believe it is beyond repair now. 3 months ago and at Funke’s insistence I moved out of the house and apart from AMVCA have not been able to get Funke to sit down in an amicable manner to discuss the future of our relationship. I’m making this announcement so that the public is clear that we both are pursuing separate lives.

We still have issues that need to be addressed such as the custody and wellbeing of our children which is paramount as well as business interests which need to be disentangled but I have no doubt that these will be resolved one way or the other.”

Benito Funke, Funke’s stepson, has dropped a bombshell on the internet, which has elicited mixed reactions from social media users.

In particular, Benito revealed several shocking allegations of cheating on the part of the actress and his father, JJC Skillz, in an Instagram Live video shared on his page.
