Italian Region Offering Nigerians And Others Over 9 Million Naira To Live In Its Villages

An underpopulated southern Italian region is offering people €700 (N276,635) per month for three years accruing to about €25,000 (N9,879,852) to live in its villages.

The region of Molise, one of Italy’s smallest and least famous regions, is offering newcomers a bounty to settle in villages that are in danger of dying out. This is in a bid to reverse the effects of decades of depopulation, which has left many villages bereft of inhabitants.

Molise is squeezed between the mountainous Abruzzo region and Puglia – the heel of the Italian boot. It is so little known that there is a joke among Italians that “Molise non esiste” – Molise does not exist.

According to The Guardian UK, newcomers including Nigerian migrants will be given €700 per month to stay in the villages, but there’s a catch.

Interested persons must pick a village with less than 2,000 residents. They must also pledge to start a business to help revitalize the village economy.

However, there is no shortage of places to choose from. Of the region’s 136 villages, more than 100 now have populations of less than 2,000.

Molise president Donato Toma told the Guardian, “We wanted to do more; we wanted people to invest here. They can open any sort of activity: a bread shop, a stationery shop, a restaurant, anything. It’s a way to breathe life into our towns while also increasing the population.

“If we had offered funding, it would have been yet another charity gesture.”

He added that the undersized cities of Molise will also be awarded €10,000 per month to rebuild crumbling infrastructure and support local culture.

“It’s not just a matter of increasing the population. People also need infrastructure and a reason to stay, otherwise, we’ll end up back where we started in a few years,” said Toma.

The initiative will be funded with €1 million from Italy’s ministry of economic development.

Approved by the regional government, details will be published in an official gazette on September 16. Prospective candidates will then have 60 days in which to apply.

Video Purportedly Shows NFL Player Antonio Brown Farting In Doctor’s Face And Laughing About It Emerges As The Doctor Sues Him | WATCH

A medical doctor from the Pittsburgh area reportedly filed a lawsuit against Antonio Brown.

Antonio Brown’s former doctor says the 31-year-old NFL star once repeatedly farted in his face during a consultation, and that he still owes him $11,500 in unpaid bills, according to Sports Illustrated.

Dr Victor Prisk said Brown turned up three hours late for a body fat check in 2018 before preceding to fart in his face. He said he then left without paying.

A footage of the August 2018 appointment, which was filmed by one of Brown’s friends, has now emerged. In it, the doctor is seen checking Brown and, all of a sudden, Brown lets out a loud fart then laughs, instead of apologizing.

“It seemed just childish to me,” Prisk told Sports Illustrated. “I’m a doctor and this man is farting in my face.”

Prisk also says Brown failed to pay for a number of other appointments, and that he has filed a lawsuit against the New England Patriots star to reclaim the money he is owed

Prisk said that despite the farting incident, he decided to take Brown on as a regular client, and went on to create diet and supplement programmes for the wide receiver.

Prisk had agreed a fee with Brown of $500 per hour, however he said fees were never paid.

Last month, Prisk says he filed a lawsuit seeking $11,500 in unpaid fees from Brown, which is currently pending.

“He’s gonna invest in your business, invest in you. You’re part of my family. Call God and all that,” Prisk told Sports Illustrated. “But he doesn’t do that, and he doesn’t even pay the bill.”

Prisk’s claims add to a growing list of allegations against Brown. The New England Patriots star was recently accused of rape by his former trainer Britney Taylor, who filed a lawsuit against him last week. A second woman has also accused Brown of sexual assault, according to Sports Illustrated.

Brown and his legal team have denied both claims of sexual assault.
