Leverkusen, Leicester Eyeing Havertz, Chilwell Replacements : Reports

Published

on

One of the ways we can often tell if a transfer is getting closer is when the selling team starts closing in on replacements for the player in question. And that’s precisely the case here, with Bayer Leverkusen and Leicester City making moves for players with whom they expect to replace Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell, respectively.

First up, Leverkusen, who were originally looking to bring in Real Madrid’s Reinier on loan but were beaten to the punch by Borussia Dortmund. The alternative solution appears to be AS Roman’s Patrick Schick.

Schick played for RB Leipzig on loan from AS Roma last season, scoring 10 goals and providing 3 assists in 28 games. Leipzig had wanted to take the player back on loan for one more season, especially in the wake of Timo Werner’s departure to Chelsea, but negotiations have broken down as the Giallorossi are looking for a transfer rather than another temporary move. Leverkusen could take full advantage of this situation, and would certainly have the money to meet Roma’s €25m asking price.

Another name on Leverkusen’s shortlist is Emmanuel Dennis of Club Brugge, who also has apparent interest from the likes of Leeds United and Napoli.

As for Leicester City, at one point they were said to be interested in Chelsea-target Nicolas Tagliafico to replace Chelsea-target Ben Chilwell, and it appears that those negotiations have intensified in recent days as per Daily Mail. However, while Tagliafico desires to play in the Premier League, he also wants to compete in the Champions League, which could be a hindrance for Leicester’s intentions. With Barcelona also in the running for the Ajax left back as a replacement for Jordi Alba, things are not looking too rosy for the Foxes right now, but let’s hope that they find a replacement soon which will allow us to finally sign Chilwell.
