Litre Of Fuel To Hit GHC7 : IES

Published

on

Institute of Energy security says the prices of fuel at local pumps in Ghana saw a 3 percent increase in petroleum products with prices per litre rising from Gh6.50 peswas to Gh6.70 peswas in 2021.

Now, the institute is projecting a 7.42 and 9.46 percent increase in brent and gasoline prices respectively.

Following the positive global shift in prices, consumers should expect an increase in local fuel prices moving forward. Ghanaians should expect fuel prices this year to rise from 6.70 pesawas to 7 cedis per litre at the pumps.

The projected increase besides the rise of fuel prices in the global market will be as a result of the depreciation of the cedi against the dollar.

In the last quarter of 2021, fuel prices in Ghana went from 6.64 cedis to 7.07 cedis in December. Earlier on in December, upon an industrial action by Ghana private road transport union, the government directed oil marketing companies to lower fuel prices.

For a brief window, Ghanaians enjoyed relief at the pump as Goil and other OMCs lowered fuel prices by 15 pesawas bringing the price to 6.70 cedis from 6.85 cedi.

This quickly changed as global fuel prices began recording an upward trajectory this January. As of January 1st, to January 3rd of 2022, the price of brent was at 78.9 dollars. Quickly, from the 4th to 10th, the price ranged between 80.8 dollars to 81.99 dollars.

Wijnaldum spoke to former Liverpool team-mate Salah before making Roma switch

Published

Georginio Wijnaldum has revealed former Liverpool team-mate Mohamed Salah was among those who advised him to join Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

Having left Liverpool for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer last year, Wijnaldum headed to Roma on a season-long loan deal last week.

Wijnaldum lifted the Champions League and Premier League trophies during a successful five-year spell at Anfield, but his impact was limited during a frustrating 2021-22 campaign in the French capital.

While the Netherlands international made 38 appearances in all competitions for PSG last season, fellow midfielders Danilo Pereira (2,623), Marco Verratti (2,621) and Idrissa Gueye (2,043) all played more than his total of 1,992 minutes for the Ligue 1 winners.

After becoming the latest arrival of a busy transfer window at the Stadio Olimpico, Wijnaldum said former Giallorossi winger Salah, alongside Kevin Strootman and PSG wing-back Achraf Hakimi, encouraged him to move to Italy.

“First of all, I wanted to come because of the effort the club put in to sign me as a player,” Wijnaldum told a news conference on Tuesday.

“Also, I spoke with Mo Salah and Kevin Strootman about Roma, about the club and the city, and I only heard good stories about it.

“I even spoke with Achraf Hakimi about it, even though he played at Inter Milan, he said [Roma] was a beautiful club and a beautiful place and I would be happy here. So that convinced me a lot.

“I know the club, we played them twice when I was at Liverpool [in the Champions League in 2018], and the atmosphere at the Olimpico was amazing – so I knew that I would be playing for a club with a great atmosphere and beautiful supporters.

“But that was basically the only thing I knew, so I asked for some advice from Mo and Strootman and they had good stories.”

Wijnaldum has joined the likes of Nemanja Matic and Paulo Dybala in signing for Roma ahead of the new Serie A campaign, and added the influence of Mourinho was another factor in his decision to head to Italy.

“When I arrived, we spoke more about football things. I think his record as a manager speaks for itself,” the midfielder said of the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss.

“The things he did in football, the prizes he won and the clubs he managed, it’s unbelievable.

“I think every player wants to work with him and I am the same. From the moment I spoke to him, I told myself I really wanted to join the club – but that was the case even before.

“I think the thing that convinced me the most was the amount of effort the club, through Mr [director of football, Tiago] Pinto and the manager, put in to sign me. At that moment I felt really wanted and appreciated by the club and that helped me make the decision.”

Asamoah Gyan exposed as killer of Castro by witch doctor, player reacts

A supposed witch doctor has called out Asamoah Gyan as the killer of singer Castro Underfire.

According to her, Asamoah Gyan masterminded and executed the eventual killing of Castro as a plot to end his career.

Speaking in a video where she was reportedly consulting the spirits about the death of Castro, the “Daughter of Mami water” pointed fingers at Asamoah Gyan.

Although Castro has been declared dead along with his girlfriend, Janet Bandu, after they went missing about 8 years ago while skiing on the Ada estuary, the witch doctor believes it has everything to do with Asamoah Gyan.

She also asked Asamoah Gyan to come forth to tell Ghanaians about his diabolical deals, which were hinged on greed and motivated by envy to kill the promising singer.

Meanwhile, Asamoah Gyan has reacted. According to him, he is unperturbed by the actions of the witch doctor to soil his reputation. He intimated that he has become used to the false accusations about his alleged involvement in the death of Castro.

However, he warned the witch doctor to tread carefully as he was poised to clear his name and put her in her proper place.

Ryan Giggs ‘kicked ex in back and threw laptop at her head’ after nightclub argument

Published

Ryan Giggs became so angry when accused by former partner Kate Greville of flirting with another woman in December 2019 that he kicked her in the back and threw a laptop at her head before then attempting to have sex with her 10 minutes later, his ex-girlfriend told a police officer.

In a 105-minute police interview played on the morning of day two of the former Manchester United star’s trial, Greville detailed “red flags” in their relationship that included him “flipping” on more than one occasion in hotel rooms.

She alleges that in 2017 Giggs dragged her out of a Dubai hotel room while she was naked after she accused Britain’s most decorated footballer of seeing another woman. And in Christmas 2019, she told the police officer, Giggs kicked her in the back as she got into bed before then throwing a bag containing her laptop at her head in a London hotel room following an argument after a night out.

Giggs is accused of assaulting Kate Greville and her younger sister, Emma Greville, with a further charge relating to controlling and coercive behaviour towards Kate Greville between 2017 and November 2020.

He denies all charges.

An artist’s portrait of Ryan Giggs as Kate Greville’s police interview is played in court.

Greville is due to be cross-examined in court later today after providing her account of their relationship in the pre-recorded police video.

In relation to the alleged incident in 2017, Greville told the police officer: “We got back to the hotel room [from a nightclub], and I said something and again he flipped.

“I had no clothes on, he grabbed me by my wrist, so hard, dragged me into the lounge bit, grabbed my on the floor, all my suitcase and threw it all into the corridor and then shut the door. I was just there naked, all my stuff in the corridor. I got all my stuff back in and got back into bed – I had to get my stuff with a towel wrapped around me.”

The relationship continued, with Greville detailing that she had suspicions Giggs was seeing a number of other women and describing her own behaviour as “naive” and “gullible.”

Giggs and Greville

Giggs was further angered following a night out in London around Christmas of 2019.

Greville said: “I took all my clothes off, got into bed. He kicked me in the back so hard that I flew off the bed and landed on the floor. I was like, ‘what’s just happened’.

“He grabbed me again, into the suite bit of the room, got my bag with my laptop in and threw it at my head. He left me naked in the lounge bit.

“Ten minutes later, he grabbed me takes me back to bed and wants to have sex. I remember waking up in the morning, I woke up and you don’t instantly remember what happened.

“I remember asking him, ‘did you throw my bag at my head?’ and he was like ‘yeah, because you accused me of flirting, you made me do it, you make me so angry that you made me do that. It’s bad for me how angry you make me, you need to be careful of that’.”

Greville said she woke up with a bump on her head from the laptop bag.
