A man has shocked many after it was discovered that he had faked being deaf and dumb for the past 62 years just to avoid having a conversation with his wife.

The man identified as Barry Dawson aged 82 from Waterbury in Connecticut has been married to his wife Dorothy who is 80years for the past 62 years and has never said a word in front of her for all those years.

According to the source, it was until recently that his wife through a Youtube video got to know that her husband had faked being deaf and dumb forcing her to file for a divorce.

The wife per the source revealed that she saw a Youtube video and decided to watch it only to see her husband happily dancing and singing to the song at karaoke in a bar.

“When he was at home, that j*** always faked being deaf. It wasn’t until I saw a Youtube video of him singing during a karaoke night in a bar while he was supposed to be at a meeting for a charity, that I understood everything,” she said.

During the divorce hearing, Dorothy explained that due to that she had to learn how to communicate in sign language with Barry.

Barry Dawson through his lawyer stated that he decided to act being deaf and dumb because his wife was ‘annoyingly talkative’ and this could have ruined their relationship hence his decision to act like that.

He continued that the marriage wouldn’t even have lasted 2 years if he had spoken from the beginning.

His lawyer maintained that his client valued the relationship that was the reason why he was able to stay with her for the past 62 years and not on the basis of cheating.

Interestingly, Dawson’s family members also thought he was deaf and dumb. The couple still raised six children and has thirteen grandchildren, all of whom were also convinced that Dawson was deaf.

Dawson’s wife has decided to take him to court and demanded financial compensation for the ‘emotional stress and burden’ caused by his deception.

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun Command, has arrested two persons, a father and a grandfather, for allegedly raping their 13-year-old daughter/granddaughter.

Spokesperson of the command, Mr Adigun Daniel, who disclosed this in a statement issued in Osogbo on Monday, November 29, said that the suspects were arrested on Friday.

“The corps received a tip-off from an informant who disclosed that the girl opened up to her that the grandfather and father have been having carnal knowledge of her. The corps immediately swung to action and arrested the father,” Adigun stated.

“Upon investigation, the girl said that her father had been having carnal knowledge of her since two years ago. She also said that she had been living with her maternal grandmother at the age of three before she was taken to her paternal grandfather at the age of five

“She said that her father and mother are separated and that was why she was entrusted to the care of her grandparents at different times.

“The girl also stated that at some point, she was molested by her grandfather but she could not stick to her allegation, owing to the fact that she was still living with him,” the NSCDC spokesman said.

He, however, added that both the father and the grandfather had denied having carnal knowledge of the girl.

Adigun said that the corps had given custody of the girl to the state Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, pending the conclusion of investigations into the matter.

He further stated that the NSCDC Commandant in the state, Mr Emmanuel Ocheja, had directed that appropriate investigation be carried out on the alleged case of incest against the victim.

The NSCDC spokesman quoted Ocheja as saying that the girl was psychologically disturbed to give vivid account of her ordeal, adding, however, that the corps would scoop out useful information to help her.

Ocheja said that NSCDC would not condone such act in any guise, adding that the protection of underage and females was paramount to the corps.
