Manchester City Crowned Premier League Champions

Published

on

Man City have been crowned Premier League champions for 2021/22 after a thrilling final day of the season.

City trailed Aston Villa 2-0 with 15 minutes remaining, but scored three goals in five minutes to win 3-2 in dramatic circumstances rivaling the historic 2012 Premier League title win.

Liverpool defeated Wolves 3-1, but fell one point short of winning the Quadruple after a thrilling 38-game battle.

Since his appointment in the summer of 2016, Pep Guardiola has led City to four Premier League titles and eight major trophies.

Pep Guardiola tells Sky Sports:

“The moment we found a goal, everything changed.” We’re playing in unusual circumstances, but you have to deal with it.

“Gundogan is our best inside runner. We were approaching from the flanks and needed a player with a sense of tempo in the box, and he’s the best.

“We are legendary.” It’s because these guys are so special that they’ve won the Premier League four times in five seasons. We will not be forgotten. The first title we won by a wide margin, then at Brighton, then at home without fans, and now with people, it’s the best.

“The magnitude of your accomplishment is defined by the magnitude of your competitor.” I’ve never seen a team as good as Liverpool. I know it’s difficult, but congratulations to them. They assist us in becoming a better team.

“Today marks the fifth anniversary of the Manchester Arena attack, which killed 22 people.” This is for the benefit of the families. Today was unique.”

Manchester United footballer Mason Greenwood will remain on bail over allegations he raped and assaulted a young woman following a court hearing.

The 20-year-old was arrested in January after images and videos were posted online, and he was also questioned on suspicion of making threats to kill.

His bail was due to expire in April but Greater Manchester Police made an application to the courts to extend it, with a hearing held on Thursday.

On Friday, a force spokesman said: “Following a hearing yesterday, a 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of rape, assault and making threats to kill on Sunday, January 30 remains on bail.”

The spokesman said no further updates would be issued until the suspect was charged or released facing no further action.

Within hours of the allegations surfacing online, the striker – who has made one appearance for England – was suspended from playing or training with the Old Trafford club until further notice.

Nike suspended its sponsorship deal with Greenwood, and later terminated it, while Electronic Arts confirmed his removal from active squads on its Fifa 22 game.
