Prince Harry And Prince William Were ‘Never Very Good Friends’ Before Royal Fallout

Published

on

A royal biographer has claimed that Prince Harry and Prince William never had that strong of a relationship prior to their rumoured fallout and rift.

The two brothers ‘never got along particularly well’, author Ingrid Seward has claimed.

Over the past year in particular, rumours about their frosty relationship has been rife following Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey where they suggested some members of the Royal family were ‘racist’ and unaccepting.

Harry also claimed his brother is ‘trapped’ within the royal system during the explosive Oprah interview, which came just months after he quit his role as a senior royal.

Although Harry travelled back to the UK from California earlier this month for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, the two brothers were not pictured together and it’s believed they didn’t meet up in private either.

“Despite appearing to do so, the two boys never got along particularly well,” author Ingrid told.

“They sat together for TV interviews on their joint causes joshing with each other but they were never very good friends.”

Th royal biographer also claimed that Kate Middleton did her best to bring the brothers closer together – but her attempts were unsuccessful.

“Kate went a long way to encourage their relationship and although William has always looked out for Harry, he feels at the moment there is nothing more he can do,” she told.

“Instead, he is concentrating on what he knows he can achieve rather than wasting time on things he can’t change.

“He knows what’s in store for him and he knows how tough it is but with the help of Kate and support from his father the Prince of Wales, he remains positive and optimistic about his future.”

Harry first hinted at tension between him and William during the October 2019 ITV documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey when he mentioned having both ‘good days’ and ‘bad days’ with his older brother.

Supreme Court Overturns Roe v. Wade, Ending Right To Abortion

Published

on

The U.S. Supreme Court has officially overturned Roe v. Wade on Friday, June 24, declaring that Americans no longer have a constitutional right to abortion.

In the court’s most closely watched and controversial case in years, a majority of the justices – all of whom were appointed by Republican presidents – held that the right to end a pregnancy was not found in the text of the Constitution nor the nation’s history.

The court, in a 6-3 vote, upheld a Republican-backed Mississippi law that bans abortion after 15 weeks.

Writing for the court majority, Justice Samuel Alito said: “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start.

“Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences. And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepened division.”

The court’s three liberal justices dissented.

In a joint dissenting opinion, Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan heavily criticized the majority, saying: “With sorrow — for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection — we dissent.”

“After today, young women will come of age with fewer rights than their mothers and grandmothers had,” Associate Justice Stephen Breyer added in a dissent joined by the court’s two other liberal justices. “The majority accomplishes that result without so much as considering how women have relied on the right to choose or what it means to take that right away.”

Roe v. Wade was centered around ‘Jane Roe’, a pseudonym for Norma McCorvey, a single mother pregnant for the third time, who wanted an abortion. She sued the Dallas attorney general Henry Wade over a Texas law that made it a crime to terminate a pregnancy except in cases of rape or incest, or when the mother’s life was in danger – arguing that the law infringed on her constitutional rights.

The Supreme Court’s ruling came in the pivotal case Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization, in which the last abortion clinic in Mississippi opposed the state’s efforts to ban abortion after 15 weeks and overturn Roe in the process.

The ruling means that individual states now have the power to decide on whether to ban abortion.

The Guttmacher Institute, a pro-choice research group, has said that 26 states are “certain or likely” to ban abortion now.

It means the women with unwanted pregnancies in many parts of America will now face the choice of traveling to another state where the procedure remains legal and available, buying abortion pills online or having a potentially dangerous illegal abortion.

Paul Pogba’s Brother Florentin Pogba 31, Joins ATK Mohun Bagan

Published

ATK Mohun Bagan have completed the signing of Florentin Pogba, brother of France World Cup winner, Paul Pogba.

ATK Mohun Bagan are strengthening their defence this season, ahead of a crucial semifinal of the AFC Cup in September. With Spanish defender Tiri injuring himself during the group stage, signing a central defender was priority and Florentin ticked all the boxes.

“ATK Mohun Bagan had a lot of profiles (from player representatives) and Florentin impressed the most. He has more to offer than just a famous surname. He is at the club purely on merit,” said one source who has tracked the development.

Brother of former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, Florentin signed a two-year deal with ATK Mohun Bagan, after parting ways with French Ligue 2 club FC Sochaux-Montbeliard where he still had a year left on his contract.

“Florentin Pogba transferred to @atkmohunbaganfc one year from the end of his contract. FCSM wishes the best to its now former central defender who will turn 32 in a few weeks,” the French club said in a tweet late on Friday.

Caught off-guard by FC Sochaux’s goodbye on social media, ATK Mohun Bagan are now likely to make an official announcement of the transfer in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Born in Guinea, Florentin was brought up in France and kickstarted his professional career with CS Sedan in Ligue 2 in 2010.

After making 45 appearances over two seasons for the club, he moved to AS Saint-Etienne in 2012, before making his Ligue 1 debut the next year.

With Saint-Etienne, he had a long spell and played regularly in the Europa League where he was up against his famous brother Paul Pogba, then with Manchester United.

Florentin made his international debut for Guinea against Mali as a 19-year-old in 2010.

His twin brother Mathias is also a footballer and last donned colours for ASM Belfort.

Interestingly, Mathias shared the dressing room with Ishan Pandita during their time at Lorca in 2020, before the young India striker returned home to join FC Goa.

Nike Announces Full Exit From Russia

Published

on

Fallout from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine continues, as another major brand is pulling its business from the country.

Nike has announced that it’s making a full exit from Russia, confirming the move in a statement issued to Reuters on Thursday.

“Nike has made the decision to leave the Russian marketplace. Our priority is to ensure we are fully supporting our employees while we responsibly scale down our operations over the coming months.”

The move comes after Nike announced that it was suspending online and physical retail business in Russia this past March.

In May, it was reported that Nike had not renewed agreements with Inventive Retail Group (IRG), which operated 37 Nike-branded stories in Russia through its Up and Run subsidiary.

This continues a trend of Western brands rolling back business in Russia, including Nike’s rival Adidas, which has indefinitely suspended all of its Russian business.

While leaving Russia is significant, Nike’s bottom line likely won’t be drastically impacted.

The company recently revealed that it gets less than 1% of its revenue from Ukraine and Russia combined.

The decision, however, does add to Russia’s increasingly growing economic isolation.
