Queen Elizabeth II

Queen Elizabeth’s representatives have announced that the monarch will no longer wear new outfits made with real fur. The news was welcomed by animal rights groups.

On Wednesday, Buckingham Palace announced that new outfits worn by Queen Elizabeth II would no longer use real fur. The decision does not mean that the queen will dispose of the fur items of clothing which she already owns.

“The queen will continue to re-wear existing outfits in her wardrobe,” said a palace spokesperson.

Elizabeth II’s senior personal dresser, Angela Kelly, revealed the information in her new memoir before it was confirmed by the palace.

The queen is known for her elaborate outfits featuring fur and other expensive materials. But this is about to end.

Fur farming is banned in the UK, but it is not illegal to buy or sell fur.

The decision to stop wearing fur outfits was welcomed by animal rights activists.

Claire Bass, director of the Humane Society International UK, said: “We are thrilled Her Majesty has officially gone fur-free.”

Bass said that she hoped the news would send a positive message that fur was no longer considered fashionable.

Accra To Have First Sky Train Station In August 2020

The concession agreement for the construction of the Accra Sky Train Project has been signed on the sidelines of the ongoing African Investment Forum in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The signing of the agreement means feasibility studies, spanning a period of nine months to determine the bankability of the project will commence, with the investors assuring that the first station for the Accra Sky Train project will be opened in 9 months.

At the signing ceremony on Monday, November 11, President Akufo-Addo described it as “a happy day for Ghana and her good people”, adding that it is a “critical step towards the consummation of this project”, and a vivid testimony of the value of the African Investment Forum.

The President thanked the SkyTrain Consortium for putting together the wherewithal that is allowing this project to go forward.

The Accra Sky Train, according to him, “is meeting an important infrastructural need, and hopefully the step that is being taken today, that is signing the concession agreement, is bringing the project to much nearer conclusion. That is what we are hoping for so that the people of Ghana benefit from the progress and the relief that a modern system of transport in our capital city is going to bring.”

SkyTrain systems are pre-fabricated using precision moulded, pre-stressed reinforced concrete components that are capable of being installed at a very rapid rate, meaning that there is minimal disruption and congestion in the urban area that is undergoing installation and commissioning.

The proposed SkyTrain initiative in Accra provides for the development of five routes, four of which are comprised of radial routes that originate at the proposed SkyTrain Terminal, at the heart of Accra, at a newly developed Kwame Nkrumah circle, and one (1) route that provides and intra-city commuter loop distribution service, also emanating from Circle.

The Project envisages a total track length across all routes of 194 kilometres.

‘Leo Messi Will Still Play With Us For The Next Two, Three, Four Or Five Years’ : Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu Reveals

Leo Messi

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has revealed Lionel Messi could still be with the Spanish giants for five more seasons despite speculations he might leave the club in the summer.

This comes after the Argentine football star revealed that he turned down the offer of a lucrative lifetime contract at Barcelona because he didn’t want to be completely tied down by the club.

While he is under contract until 2021, a clause inserted in his current deal could see him leave the Nou Camp for nothing in the summer.

Speaking on the situation, Bartomeu told fans that the 32-year-old could be with Barca for another five seasons.

‘Leo Messi will still play with us for the next two, three, four or five years. I have no doubts about that,’ Bartomeu said in the post-match press conference following Barca’s 4-1 win over Celta Vigo, in which Messi scored a hat-trick.

‘Surely it will be the wish of all parties, if he (Lionel Messi) feels strong and ambitious, to extend this contract indefinitely,’ said Bartomeu.

‘Ultimately it is he who must decide. He has earned the right to decide when he will stop playing football. But like he said a few weeks ago, he wants to finish his playing career at Barcelona.

‘Over the next two or three seasons, our leader will continue to be Leo Messi. There’s no doubt that he is still young, still strong. He is still ambitious.’

‘I have no doubt that after Messi finishes his career as a footballer, he will remain linked to this club for the rest of his life,’ Bartomeu added.
