Rita Dominic Finally Opens Up On Why She Was Banned from Nollywood

Published

on

Rita Dominic, veteran Nollywood actress has disclosed the reason she once got a silent ban from the industry.

In an interview with Chude, when asked if she has enjoyed her last 23 years in the Nigerian movie industry, Rita Dominic said that she has had her high moments and her low moments.

When Chude asked her what her low moment was, Rita spoke saying:

“So let me tell you something, I don’t know if I’ve said this publicly. Many years ago, we worked a lot with the marketers and they weren’t used to talking to management, they were used to easy access, direct access to us. So I started working with a manager which is my business partner Mildred because she manages my career as well and it was a challenge.

But I was bent on changing things at least for myself cuz I felt like we needed some sort of structure if we wanted to grow – if we wanted this to go further or advance our careers, we needed to start letting them understand that we have management. So obviously, they didn’t like it but they didn’t…

let me put it this way: I think they gave me a silent ban without saying anything. I used to trickle down certain things that they would say, a few of them, and I can understand. You know, people don’t like change sometimes especially when it’s been the same thing for so long and it has worked for you. I didn’t get work for a long time!

Before then, Mildred and I had been talking. She had already started producing and we had toyed with the idea of forming a company together and shooting productions and adverts. So when that (ban) lingered for a while, I said you know what?

Let’s go ahead with this thing – let’s produce content. That’s how I was put on this other trajectory and I started producing. I did my first film, ‘The Meeting’ and I wasn’t going to do the role but we ended up doing it and The Meeting became very successful.

So the (ban) in a way was a blessing. Sometimes, the powers that be (the universe) may be moving you in a direction you don’t want because you want things to happen in a certain way. But it might actually let you achieve the same goal through a different route.”

Hearts Of Oak To Stop Kuami Eugene From Performing At ‘Super Clash’ Against Kotoko

Published

Accra Hearts of Oak have allegedly turned down an offer to allow musician Kuami Eugene to perform at the Accra Sports Stadium in their ‘Super Clash’ game against Asante Kotoko on Sunday.

The Ghanaian Artiste of the Year was billed to perform at the Accra Sports Stadium by Adonko Next Level, sponsors of both Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.

But, however, due to the bias of Kuami Eugene being a supporter of Asante Kotoko, the Phobians say they will prevent the artiste from performing.

Kuami Eugene had declared his support for the Porcupines on a number of occasions and even performed for the team last season after they defeated the Phobians in the truncated Premier League season.

According to the Deputy PRO of Hearts of Oak’s National Chapters Committee, Mr Ishmael Yussif, fans should not expect Kuami Eugene to perform at their home grounds.

“You can call it ‘sportstainment’ or whatever but let me assure Hearts fans that Kuami Eugene will not perform at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday,” he told Ghanaguardian.com.

“He can go and entertain his Kotoko people like he has been doing but not during their home match.”

Hearts of Oak’s game with Kotoko on Sunday is a crunchy decider since both sides are tied on points but the Phobians are ahead of the Porcupines on goal difference.

Britney Spears Alleges Her Father Drugged Her And Forced Her To Be On Birth Control In A Recent Conservatorship Hearing

Britney Spears has spoken out against her conservatorship at a court hearing in Los Angeles, where she alleged that her dad drugged her and forced her to be on birth control against her will.

Speaking in open court for the first time in the case, the American singer, 37, said her father Jamie Spears controlled her “100,000%,” but wants her life back.

“I am traumatised,” she said, speaking remotely. “I just want my life back.”

During the hearing, fans outside held placards reading Free Britney and demanding the ruling be axed.

Britney Spears alleges her father drugged her and forced her to be on birth control in a recent conservatorship hearing

Jamie Spears was granted control over his daughter’s personal and business affairs in a court-ordered conservatorship in 2008. The order was originally granted after the star was put in hospital amid concerns over her mental health.

“I want to end this conservatorship without being evaluated,” Spears told the court decisively in an emotional 20-minute address on Wednesday, calling the arrangement “abusive”.

“I deserve to have a life, I’ve worked my whole life. I deserve to have a two to three-year break,” she said.

Spears said she wanted to marry her boyfriend and have a baby, but the conservatorship would not allow her to. She accused her conservator of stopping her from having a contraceptive intrauterine device (IUD) removed so she could get pregnant.

“I was told right now in the conservatorship, I’m not able to get married or have a baby,” Spears said. “I have an I[U]D inside of myself right now so I don’t get pregnant. I wanted to take the IUD out so I could start trying to have another baby, but this so-called team won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out because they don’t want me to have children, any more children.”

She also said she had been forced to take lithium – a common medicine for bipolar disorders to the point where she felt drunk and unable to converse.

“I felt drunk. I couldn’t even stick up for myself. I couldn’t even have a conversation with my mom or dad about anything. I told them I was scared and they had six different nurses come to my home to monitor me while I was on this medication that I didn’t want to be on to begin with.”

“This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good,” she said.

In 2019, Jamie Spears stepped down temporarily as his daughter’s personal conservator because of health reasons but the pop star is requesting for this to be made permanent.

In another move, she is seeking to permanently install Jodi Montgomery, a care professional, into the role instead of reinstating her father.

Jamie Spears was troubled by the singer’s allegations in court, according to his lawyer.

“He is sorry to see his daughter suffering and in so much pain,” the representative said in a statement read out in court. “Mr Spears loves his daughter, and he misses her very much.”
