Ghana has been added to the list of its visa-free countries, the South African Government has announced.

In a post on South Africa’s Home Affairs Twitter handle, the country indicated that Ghanaians will no longer need visas to travel to the Southern African country henceforth.

Other countries that were added to the list of visa-free countries include Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Cuba, and Sao Tome and Principe.

A separate statement from the Home Affairs Minister, Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi said: “Out of the 193 countries who are member states of the United Nations, the Department has granted visa-free status to 75 countries.”

He said, out of the number “16 are in our [African] continent and are SADC members and 59 are from all over the world.”

He went on further to announce seven countries that have been added to the visa-free list which included Ghana.

Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi said they “will immediately enter into discussions with them about how a visa-free regime will work. We still have some homework to do for 3 countries whose combined populations make up close to 30% of the world’s population i.e. China, India, and Nigeria,” the statement added.”

Below are excerpts of the statement by the Home Affairs Minister with regards to visa waiver:

While the Home Affairs Department core mandate is issuing identification, we also contribute significantly to economic growth.

We do this by making life easier for our sister Departments such as Tourism to boost their tourism figures. Tourism will soar if we relax visa requirements for entry into South Africa. We know that Tourism is very important for job creation.

Out of the 193 countries who are member states of the United Nations, the Department has granted visa-free status to 75 countries. Of these 16 are in our continent and are SA

DC members and 59 are from all over the world.

Today, we wish to announce an addition to our visa-free countries.

Asamoah Gyan

Former captain of the Ghana Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan, has recently ventured into the acting business. This comes as no surprise as he recently revealed that he would no longer play with the Blacks Stars in any tournament.

It would be recalled that a few years back, Asamoah Gyan ventured into the music business but that proved unsuccessful after his musician friend Castro underfaya went missing.

Via his Instagram handle he announced that he is starting a new TV Program titled, “The Adventures of Asamoah Gyan Baby Jet”.

He wrote; “Something new cooking oooo Just subscribe on new YouTube channel on my Bio. Subscribe ooooo, yoooo”.

We are anticipating the project of the footballer-musician and now actor. We just hope the movie would’nt be riddled with substandard acting that would make viewers cringe. Fingers crossed.

Policeman Dies 2 Weeks To His Wedding

Published

on

42-year-old Lance Corporal James Yaw Appiah a.k.a “Antoa Cupers”, left his family heartbroken following news of his death which came two weeks to his wedding.

The policeman attached to the police unit in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, Ghana, was found dead in his tent at a police duty point near the Bawku Government Hospital on the last day of a monthly rotational police operation that had sent him to the town.

His death came a few hours after having a chat with his cousin and gospel musician Lady Prempeh. The deceased’s family, however, suspects that the police authorities are withholding the truth, as the corpse of the deceased had bloody bruises to the right side of his face down to the shoulder, suggesting that he might have struggled with his assailant.

Head of the family, Nana Dr. Kusi Appiah Osraman in an interview with Kumasi-based Angel FM said, “Police in the Upper East Region is being economical with the truth in the circumstances that led to the death of his nephew and suspects that they have a hand in the matter”.

“They are deliberately keeping the body at Bawku so that it would get rotten in order to conceal the evidence that could be adduced from the postmortem”, he said, accusing the Upper East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ampofo Duku of conspiring to get his nephew killed, because he told me to “do whatever I want or please myself” when I threatened to make the matter public.”

He is reportedly survived by two kids from his previous relationship, and his fiancee he was to get married to.
