Turkey Plans To Introduce A Law Allowing Rapists To Marry Their Victims To Avoid Prosecution

Turkey

The Turkish government is planning to introduce a new law that will allow men accused of raping underage girls to avoid punishment by marrying their victims, a move which has outraged women’s rights campaigners who say the law will pave the way for ‘child exploitation and legitimize child marriage and statutory rape.’

The “marry your rapist” bill is set to be introduced to parliament at the end of the month. Although, the Turkey’s opposition party, the Peoples’ Democratic Party has called for the bill to be axed.

Suad Abu-Dayyeh, a campaigner for Equality Now, told The Independent: “I applaud the brave work of women’s rights campaigners in Turkey who are taking a stand against this discriminatory bill and pushing back again regressive forces that are seeking to remove current legal protections for girls.

“Similar ‘marry-your-rapist’ legal provisions have been on the statute books of countries across the Middle East and North Africa.

“Thanks to years of campaigning by women’s rights activists and lawmakers, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, and Palestine have all removed these loopholes in recent years.

“Rather than attempting to introduce legislation that harms women’s rights and protections, Turkish lawmakers should take heed of these advances in repealing gender discriminatory laws.”

The UN say 38% of women in Turkey have suffered physical or sexual violence from a partner.

Rawlings

Ghanaians if not all have heard the story of Former President Jerry John Rawlings using a fighter jet and flying under the Adomi bridge in the year 1979.

Many of us found it very difficult to believe the story looking at how Adomi bridge is and how he was able to carry out the act.

A retired pilot with the Ghana army identified as Air Commodore Kwame Pumpuni has finally set the records straight by saying Rawling never pulled up that act and the story is a lie.

According to the retired Ghana Air Force officer speaking in an interview on Dadi FM stated that Rawlings could not have flown under the Adomi bridge due to the size and nature of the bridge.

The former President worked as a pilot with the Ghana Armed Forces before staging a coup in 1979 and later in 1981. Subsequently, he became an elected President in 1993 and rules till January 2001 when he handed over power to the NPP’s John Kufuor.

I Joined The Muslims Because They Don’t Pay Unnecessary Offerings And Tithe : Lady Says

Lady

A Nigerian lady has revealed why she converted from a Christian to a Muslim.
After much question and interrogation from family and friends, she finally gave her reasons for her change in religion.

She said that most pastors are no more doing the will of God wholeheartedly and it’s not right.
Another reason I left the church I was attending and converted to a Muslim was because they were extorting money from members in the name of offering. We would usually go for 4 to 5 different type of offering and at the end I will end up trekking home. It’s not right.

There was the general offering, the free-will offering, the offering for the less privileged, offering for diesel to power church generator and so on. I was literally fade up.
I couldn’t continue going to church only to get myself angry and trek home.
I joined the Muslims, because they worship differently and they don’t need to pay unnecessary offerings.
