The Office Of The 12th UPSA SRC Secretary Presents... "When The Harasser Is Your Boss"

It is the fervent prayer of everyone that he or she gets a working environment that does not lead to depression or ill health.

The average life expectancy of a man is approximately 80, or more, depending on where you live in the world and your lifestyle as well.

In most cases, at age 18 one starts to work and may work till age 65. Looking at this, that is the bigger part of our time on this earth. It would be a great disaster if one lives that major part of his life in shackles, pain, and suppression from bosses.

We are different human beings and we do not expect everyone to act nicely or understand us in the way we desire. Each individual has a different perspective and scope of how to handle life and people. Some may be rude, some may be harsh, some may be nice.

We may find ourselves in the field of having to work with other team members, heads of departments and the like. One may have to deal with some bosses that may make work and life as a whole, a living hell. Yes!

Also, another challenge of our working environment is the canker of bosses requiring sexual favors from fully qualified and deserving females before they would even give the position they undeniably deserve to them.
Some females who already managed to bypass such demands to get employed sometimes end up getting pestered with sexual demands whilst working.

Sexual harassment and abuse in the working environment are extremely disheartening, and every female has the right to stand up against it. But how?…

How do we stand up against it; When that is the only work you managed to secure after 1000years of countless interviews?, When that is the only highest paid job you managed to get?, When you wholeheartedly love your job? How do we stand up against these unlawful abuses and harassment, without losing our jobs?. How do we keep our head high still having to work and not to compromise our dignity just because of the paycheck?!.

This and talk about general relationship issues as well as what the programme “WHEN THE HARASSER IS YOUR BOSS”, organized by the SRC secretary of UPSA, as part of the annual SRC week celebration, focuses on.

It is an open forum discussion. Those questions, concerns, contributions, and those experiences you have in this sensitive area, come Tuesday the 2nd of April, 2019, at 5:30 pm, at the prestige hostel forecourt, right opposite the campus of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), come to meet our dignified resource persons; Counselor Adofoli and Madam Tima Kumkum(UTV Presenter) and lets interact.

Let’s gain the knowledge, confidence, and power we need to face our working environment after school. Remember, Ignorance is not an excuse, and, knowledge is power!

All are cordially invited…

Lionel Messi Blasts Barcelona For ‘Throwing’ Luis Suárez Out Of The Club

Published

on

Lionel Messi has launched a fresh attack on Barcelona’s hierarchy for the way the club treated his close friend Luis Suárez after the striker left for rival club, Atlético Madrid.

The Argentine playmaker, who threatened to leave Barça last month and recently hit out at the club’s president Josep Maria Bartomeu’s leadership, said Suárez was harshly treated and ‘thrown out’ of the club.

In an emotional goodbye post dedicated to Suarez, the club’s third-highest scorer of all time, Messi wrote: “I had already begun to imagine it but today I went into the dressing room and it truly dawned on me. It’s going to be so difficult to not continue to share every day with you both on the pitches and away from them.

“We’re going to miss you so much. We spent many years together, many mates, many lunches and many dinners. So many things we will never forget, all the time we spent together.

“It will be strange to see you in another shirt and much more to come up against you on the pitch. You deserved a farewell that fit with who you are: one of the most important players in the history of the club. Someone who achieved great things for the team and on an individual level.

“You did not deserve for them to throw you out as they did. But the truth is that at this stage nothing surprises me anymore.”

On Thursday, an emotional Suarez said goodbye to Barcelona and paid tribute to Messi after sealing a switch to Atletico Madrid. The Uruguay international had previously made it clear that he wanted to stay and see out his contract but was told by Barca’s new coach Ronald Koeman that his playing days were over at the club.

Suarez helped the club win four LaLiga titles, four Copa del Rey crowns, and the Champions League in 2015. He scored 195 goals and provided 113 assists in 283 outings for the club before his exit.
