The FNB Stadium was filled to the brim with ecstasy on Sunday when several of the world’s biggest acts joined forces with their African counterparts to thrill millions around the world at the Global Citizen Festival: Mandella 100.

Presented by International advocacy organisation Global Citizen, the event featured amazing performances from Beyoncé & JAY-Z, Black Coffee, Cassper Nyovest, D’banj, Ed Sheeran, Eddie Vedder, Femi Kuti, Kasey Musgraves, Pharrell Williams & Chris Martin, Sho Madjozi, Tiwa Savage, Usher, and Wizkid.

It was the first Global Citizen Festival to be held in Africa.

Trevor Noah hosted the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 with co-hosts Naomi Campbell, Dave Chappelle, Danai Gurira, Sir Bob Geldof, Gayle King, Bonang Matheba, Nomzamo Mbatha, Tyler Perry, and Anele Mdoda.

Oprah Winfrey introduced Sir Bob Geldof who delivered a special keynote address at the Festival remembering Nelson Mandela and his legacy.

Other leaders who addressed the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 include South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Prime Minister Erna Solberg of Norway and President Nana Akufo-Addoof Ghana, who both serve as co-chairs of the UN Secretary General’s Advocacy Group for the Sustainable Development Goals, President Mokgweetsi Masisi of Botswana, President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, chair of the African Union; President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya.

Others included His Excellency Benedict Bengioushuye Ayade, Governor of Cross River State, Nigeria; Mrs. Graca Machel, UN Sustainable Development Goals Advocate; The Rt Hon Patricia Scotland QC, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth; Dr. Jim Kim, President of the World Bank; Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, United Nations Under-Secretary General and Executive Director of UN Women; Ambassador Deborah Birx, U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator & U.S. Special Representative for Global Health Diplomacy; Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

The rest were Director-General of the World Health Organization, Alexander De Croo, Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium, Gilbert F. Houngbo,President of the UN International Fund for Agricultural Development, David Beasley, Executive Director of the World Food Programme, Ambassador Ertharin Cousin, Board Director of The Power of Nutrition, and Peter Sands, Executive Director of the The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

The Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 will be presented and hosted by The Motsepe Foundation, with major partners, Johnson & Johnson, Cisco, Nedbank, Vodacom, Coca Cola SA, Big Concerts, Harmony, House of Mandela, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Goalkeepers, Eldridge Industries, and Associate Partners, HP and Microsoft.

R2bees, Ghanaian musical group who recently released their heavyweight album “Site 15” seems to have gone on a tour.

In a video shared by the musical group on a show they had in the USA, the music group conquered Washington DC.

According to them, Ohio is next.

Come April 6, at the PlayStation theater, Ghana’s finest contingent of extraordinary performers will treat the audience to the best of original urban music made in Africa. Organized by INSIDE LLC, SAFCOM Group in partnership with ELITE Group, the Afrobeats To The World Concert will be on record as the heaviest lineup for a single event outside the shores of Ghana with night being hosted by Ebaby and Kwasi Beast.

This is the first time any Ghanaian artist is playing at the venue

Award-winning Afropop group R2Bees who recently dropped their chart-topping Site 15 are performing live on the show. BET Awards nominee, Kwesi Arthur will also be treating fans will unending back to back jams live. Other performers include sensational vocalist King Promise, La Meme Gang’s Darko Vibes, KiDi, Kuami Eugene — who has just been nominated in the Artiste of the decade category of the prestigious 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2019.
The ultimate Afrobeat party night will also have heavyweight rap artistes, Medikal and Jeoy B on the bill to entertain patrons to the best of their abilities.

“We are ahead with preparation. A lot have gone into the event and the good thing is that, we have put all needed arrangements weeks ahead of the show because, we believe it will be the biggest to happen outside Ghana” — Mr Safo, CEO of SafCom Group.

The maiden edition of the Afrobeats to the World is a musical concert planned to provide top quality performance experience, fun-charged party atmosphere for urban music lovers to meet and party with their favorite Afrobeat artistes.

Official DJs on the night are DJ Mensa, DJ Akuaa, DJ Nitamare, DJ Vyrusky, DJ Tunez.
