“We’re Attacked And In Fear” : Residents Cry Over Two Tigers In Cheddar’s Estates

Published

on

Some residents in Accra have been alarmed by the presence of two tigers in Wonder World Estates, Avenue Lincoln, near the British High Commission at Ridge.

Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Freedom Jacob Caesar, is thought to be the owner of the estate.

Residents say the presence of tigers in the area makes them feel unsafe.

Locals’ attempts to persuade the facility’s owner or administration to remove the tigers, according to Daily Guide sources, have been futile, as their complaints are frequently met with aggressive responses.

“The animals stink,” according to several residents.

These animals are housed in apartments with no natural light or fresh air. According to one homeowner, “a very foul odor emanates from them as soon as the door is opened.”

“They’re opened early in the morning and then delivered inside around 10 a.m.,” said another resident. They pee and urinate on the floor. They also make a lot of noise, which keeps us awake at night.”

“Neither tranquilizers nor adequate training are available.” “No one knows what would happen to us if something bad happened,” lamented another.

The animals have been present since November of last year, when they were cubs, according to the residents, and they had hoped that the animals would be transported to an appropriate institution after a short time.

“Having wild animals, particularly tigers,” they grumbled, “in an estate in the middle of the city where there is less than a metre between the buildings and also without any adequate training and care [for them].”

They also claimed that rather than attempting to persuade the owner to remove the animals, he erected a structure for them right next to their apartment.

“When we saw them erecting [the structure], we inquired as to what institution had granted them permission to erect such an animal structure in a residential area.”

“They stated that they owe us no explanation and will not provide any such authorization.” “Even if they had such authorization,” they claimed, “it was solely theirs.”

One of the tigers is said to have threatened a male resident, forcing him to flee for his life.

Another resident is said to have suffered bruises on her feet as a result of an encounter with one of the tigers.

Residents also stated that they reported the situation to the Ghana Wildlife Society about a week ago and were told that it would be investigated, but that no satisfactory response has been received since.

Residents stated that no official from the organization had come to inform them of anything, but that they had seen some Society officials in the estate on Sunday, May 15, 2022, in the presence of Nana Bediako, but “they did not tell us anything.”

“They keep throwing us whenever we call to see how far we are.” According to reports, the authorities traveled extensively and back and forth.

“They don’t tell us anything, which is why we intend to file a police report if we don’t hear from Wildlife Society after a while.”

“Until His VGMA Plaque Got Missing, I Didn’t Know Ras Kuuku” : Joe Mettle

Published

on

Despite the perceived popularity of reggae-dancehall artist Ras Kuuku in Ghana, gospel artist Joe Mettle has revealed that he never knew him.

According to him, he only got an idea of whom Ras Kuuku was after news broke about his missing Vodafone Ghana Music Awards plaque in 2020.

In a conversation with Andy Dosty, Joe Mettle who won the VGMA Artist of the year award in 2017, stated that he never knew Ras Kuuku and wouldn’t have known him if his plaque had not reportedly gone missing.

“I didn’t know Ras Kuuku until his award got missing.”

Ras Kuuku’s plaque going missing was big news considering the fact that it was the first time such news was being reported.

Subsequently, it was found.

Since then, Ras Kuuku and Joe Mettle have been having a back and forth. When Joe Mettle was nominated for the Reggae-Dancehall category for the previous VGMAs, Ras Kuuku went mad.

He stated that the gospel artist did not qualify to be in such a category. In response, Joe Mettle had said that Ras Kuuku would get over it after a while.

“if he were also nominated, they would do the same to him, so it’s a regular thing, and I wouldn’t expect less.

“The point is, no matter who appears in the category, there have been years where people are said not to deserve to be in a particular category; every year, it does come up, so I don’t feel like this is new in terms of how some people feel.”
